و قد تم تسريب النسخة بعدما استطاع زوار المؤتمر الخاص بالمطورين المحترفين الحصول على نسخة من البري باتا لويندوز 7 على قرص صلب خارجي . ليتم و بعد يوم واحد فقط, تحميل الملف على مواقع و شبكات التورنت. فيما بعد تضاعف الملف بشكل لا يوصف و الآلاف قاموا بتحميل النسخة للنظام الجديد.
تجدر الإشارة انه ممكن تحميل النسخة لل32 بت و 64 على مواقع البت تورنت و لكن النسخة 64 ليست مفضلة كثيرا لدى مستخدمي p2p.
